John F. Steinbach

March 26, 2015 — June 17, 1923

John F. Steinbach, 91, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of Vine Road, St. Marys, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Penn Highlands Elk.

He was born June 17, 1923 in St. Marys, son of the late Joseph and Catherine Meklar Steinbach.  He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Public High School, Class of 1941.  He was a retired carpenter at Suburban Building Center.

On April 1, 1949 in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Ruth Cashmer, who preceded him in death in 1987.

He is survived by two daughters, Karen McQuone and her husband Eugene of Erie and Kim Bosnik and her husband David of St. Marys; a son, Frank Steinbach and his wife Connie of St. Marys; eight grandchildren, Erica Grazioli, Brian McQuone, Tricia Stauffer, Brittney Timm, Jesse Bosnik, Missy Steinbach, Loren Steinbach, and Brad Steinbach; and eight great grandchildren, Samuel Grazioli, Ruth Grazioli, Jackson Seeders, Avery Stauffer, Brayden Steinbach, Brielle Steinbach, Blake Stauffer, and Cael Stauffer.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Marie “Honey” Emmert, Catherine “Katie” Fortier, Theresa Cherry, and Rose Nelson; and four brothers, Joseph Steinbach, Tony Steinbach, Albert Steinbach, and Raymond Steinbach.  He was the last member of his immediate family.

Mr. Steinbach was a member of the Queen of the World Church.  He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII and enjoyed gardening and hunting.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating.  Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM.
