John F. Smith

John F. Smith, 63, of 161 Ford Road, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the UPMC Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh after a lengthy illness.

He was born December 27, 1948 in St. Marys, son of the late William and Jane Krug Smith.  He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1967.  He was an employee of the former Pure Carbon Company and retired from Morgan AM&T in 2011 after 47 years of service.

On September 19, 1970 in Rasselas, he married Louise E. Olewinski, who survives.  He is also survived by three daughters, Laura Jane (Andrew) Schultz of Swannanua, NC, Jeanette Marie (Robert) Sisson of Greenwood, NY, Michele Lee (Geronimo) Garcia of Clyde, NY; a son, Christopher John (Jacquelyn) Smith of Winter Park, FL; two grandchildren, Tissica B. Schultz and Elliott A. Schultz; a sister, Jane (Richard) Dugan of Roulette, PA; and a brother, Jude A. Smith and his partner Charles Spliedt of Clarksville, MD.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Ann Meyer, and a brother, David Smith.

Mr. Smith was a member and served as minister of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Kersey for 38 years, enjoyed fixing small items
for family and friends and liked to go antiquing.  He was a loving father and husband and was always there for family and friends in good times and bad times.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held in the Fox Twp. Senior Center on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 4:00 PM with Brian Blair officiating.  Burial will be private.

Visitation with the family will be held in the Fox Twp. Senior Center on Friday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 339 Main Street, Kersey, PA  15846.
