John William Rickard

June 25, 2014 — February 7, 1936

John William Rickard, 78, of 391 Toby Road, Kersey, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born February 7, 1936 in Fallen Timber, PA, son of the late David John and Dorothy Black Rickard.  He attended Coalport schools and had been a resident of the area since 1970.  He had worked as a coal miner, helped in the construction of the Kinzua Dam, and retired from Powdered Metal Products after 36 years of service.

In April 1962, he married Charlotte Lipsey, who preceded him in death on March 4, 1999.

He is survived by a daughter, Linda Corrigan and her husband Pat of Tampa, FL; two sons, Bernard “Mike” Loney of Kersey and Dennis Loney and his wife Brenda of Brockport; five grandchildren, Corey, Amber, Amy, Amanda, and Christina; two sisters, Marie Holjencin of Kersey and Millie Peacock of Buffalo, NY; one brother, William Rickard of Blandburg, PA; and by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David John Rickard who passed away March 28, 1986; two sisters, Virginia Rickard and Edna Wonderling; and two brothers, Otis Black and Martin Rickard.

Mr. Rickard loved the outdoors.  He enjoyed country music, fishing, swimming, and visiting his family in Fallen Timber.  He was a loving and caring father.

Funeral services will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow in the Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday evening, June 27, 2014, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
