John E. “Ed” Neureiter, 87, of 439 Main Street, Kersey, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at the Pinecrest Manor after a lengthy illness.
He was born July 12, 1926 in Kersey, son of the late Raymond and Bertha Gahr Neureiter. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Kersey High School. He was a retired employee of PennDOT, retiring in 1986 after 26 years of service.
On May 23, 1953 in the St. Mary’s Church, he married Maudie Brennan, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Donna Peters and her husband Barry of St. Marys, and Frances Erich and her husband Glenn of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Jason Fox, Jesse Erich, and Nicholas Erich; and two nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Blaine Neureiter in 1980; a grandson, Joshua Erich in 1990; and a brother, Eugene Neureiter.
Mr. Neureiter was a member of the St. Boniface Church, a Veteran of WWII having served in the Army, a member of the Fox Twp. Fire Department for 64 years, a member of the Dagus Mines American Legion, the ASFME, a former member of the Fox Twp. Ambulance and the Fox Twp. Burial Detail. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and he especially enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Due to the renovation of the St. Boniface Church, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, December 23, 2013, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. James Faluszczak, Pastor of St. Boniface Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday, December 22, 2013, from 5:00 till 8:00 PM.
