John T. Mawn, 82, a resident of Pinecrest Manor, and formerly of Vermont Road, St. Marys, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Pinecrest Manor.
He was born December 2, 1935, in St. Marys, son of the late Dr. Thomas R. and Frances Burden Mawn. He was a lifelong resident of the area, was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1953, and also a graduate of Villanova University, Class of 1957. John retired after many years as a Human Resource Manager.
On October 2, 1965, in the St. Boniface Church, John married Jean R. Holtzhauser, who preceded him in death August 5, 1995.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Cook and her husband Christopher of Saline, MI, and Christine Wise and her husband Curtis of Brockway; a son, Douglas A. Mawn and his wife Heather of St. Marys; and by seven grandchildren, Allison Bailey, Nathaniel Cook, Noah Cook, Molly Wise, Andrew Mawn, Martina Mawn, and Tyler Mawn.
In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann O’Brien and Gloria Weisner. He was the last member of his immediate family.
John was a member of the St. Mary’s Church and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a 15 year member of the Crystal Fire Department and he enjoyed model railroading. John was a proud Villanova University fan and alumnus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
