John J. “Jack” Biskup, 72, of 728 South Michael Road, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Penn Highlands Elk.
He was born April 17, 1945, in Latrobe, PA, son of the late Dr. George E. and Isabel Zink Biskup. He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant Township High School, Class of 1962. He then entered the Army and received his training to be an X-Ray Technician. Jack was a resident of St. Marys since 1975 and served as Director of Radiology at the Elk Regional Medical Center, retiring in 2008 after 33 years of service.
On January 7, 1967, in Trauger, PA, Jack married Patricia L. Staschak, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Tracy Rusalem and her husband Toby of St. Marys; a son, John M. Biskup and his wife Stephanie of Elwood City, PA; four grandsons, John “Buckie” Biskup, Jacob Biskup, Joseph Rusalem, and Tyler Rusalem; two sisters, Dolores Stairs and her husband Victor of Penn Hills, PA and Janet “Dolly” Biskup of Latrobe, PA; two brothers, George E. Biskup, Jr. and his wife Jackie of Trafford, PA and James Bishop and his wife Carol of Greensburg, PA; and by a sister-in-law, Christine Biskup of Allison Park, PA.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Biskup; and by a brother, Michael Biskup.
Jack was a member of the Queen of the World Church and was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the St. Marys Sportsmen’s Club and the Free Masons. Jack was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener, and he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Jeff Noble, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Byzantine Cemetery in Trauger, PA.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
