John W. Auman

June 28, 1958 — July 24, 2025

John W. Auman, 67, of 104 Auman Road in Kersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2025, with his loving daughters by his side.

Born on June 28, 1958, in Ridgway, he was the son of the late Jerome and Genevieve (Copella) Auman. A lifelong resident of the area, John was a proud graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1976. He went on to earn a degree in Carpentry from Williamsport College of Technology — a craft he loved and enjoyed throughout his life.

John was a man who found joy in life’s simple moments. He loved nothing more than sitting on his front porch, breathing in the fresh air, and catching up with friends and family. He cherished the outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting and spending time with his friends in his local bowling league.

He worked for more than 15 years at SGL Carbon in St. Marys, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Above all, John’s heart belonged to his family. He is survived by his devoted daughters: Kristy Auman (Stephen Houppert) of Lowville, NY, Brittany Fingado (Tom) of Kersey, and Amber Powell (Jason) of St. Marys. He also shared a special bond with Kelsey Cavaline of Ridgway, who was like a daughter to him.

He was a proud and loving grandfather to five grandchildren: Kennedy Simon, Ava Powell, Lyla Powell, Wyatt Fingado, and Emilia Fingado. His eyes lit up whenever he spoke about them, and he never missed a chance to share how proud he was.

John is also survived by his sisters: Mary Harter of Centre Hall, Clare Anderson of Reynoldsville, and Odelia “Odie” Hoffman (Jerry) of Kersey; and by his brothers: Tom Auman and Jerome Auman, both of Kersey. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Dolores Auman of Weedville, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember his warm smile and generous heart.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Mary Elizabeth Auman, and his brother, Mark Auman.

A memorial service to celebrate John’s life will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, 169 Center Street, St. Marys on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 1:30PM with Rev. Jeffery Noble, officiating.

Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home from 12:30PM until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John’s honor to the Dagus Mines American Legion Post 511, 196 Skyline Drive, Dagus Mines, PA 15831— a place that was a great support to him.

John will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and the deep love he gave so freely to those around him. He faced life with quiet strength, unwavering tenacity, and a particular way of doing things that made him unmistakably and endearingly himself. His spirit lives on in the stories he told, the values he instilled, and the love he leaves behind in every heart he touched.
