Jerome T. “Jump” Hasselman

Jerome T. “Jump” Hasselman, 77, of 122 Laurel Lane, Kersey, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at his residence.

He was born December 29, 1933, in St. Marys, son of the late George and Anna Woelfel Hasselman.  He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1951. He was the owner of the former Weigh Scale Bar in St. Marys and the Wayside Inn in Kersey and retired as an insurance inspector for MIB of Harrisburg.

On June 2, 1956, in the St. Mark Church in Emporium, he married Mary C. Brennan, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Pamela Mahovlich of St. Marys, Lynn Grolemund (Bradley) of Rochester, N.Y., and Lisa Glass (Harold) of St. Marys; a son, Randy J. Hasselman (Cheryl) of Gastonia, N.C.; seven grandchildren, David Wildnauer, Stephanie Larkin, Melissa Agnello, Christa Grolemund, Corey Grolemund, Mollie Anzinger and Andrew Glass; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Mae Pelgrin of St. Marys and Arlene Regulski (Phil) of Ridgway; a brother, Leroy Hasselman (Doris) of St. Marys; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Hasselman of St. Marys and Vicky Nussbaum of St. Marys.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Hasselman and George Hasselman Jr.
Mr. Hasselman was a member of the St. Boniface Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War as a sergeant. He liked to fish, hunt, enjoyed playing cards and camping, and enjoyed going to the casino. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and granddogs.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerome T. “Jump” Hasselman will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, as celebrant. Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Twp. Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
