With profound sorrow and a faithful joy, we announce the passing of Jane Bailey Weidenboerner, a devoted, supportive, and resilient woman who touched countless lives with her warmth, courage, and unwavering commitment to service. Jane died at the age of 84 in the early afternoon hours of Thursday, October 15, 2026, surrounded in love by family at her son's home in Franklin, Louisiana, where she has resided since leaving her home in Pennsylvania in November 2025. Born in Washington D.C. on February 19, 1942, Jane dedicated herself to a life of purpose and passion. Even following the untimely death of her husband who was tragically killed in a hunting accident, Jane demonstrated her strength in raising her four, very young, sons, providing for them, giving them an example of a true servant's heart, and taking them on amazing adventures in countless places, all as a widowed mother.
She became a registered nurse, her calling being in the healthcare field, where she provided comfort and care to those in need. A fervent servant at heart, Jane served as a Red Cross volunteer for 50 years and was a Peace Corps volunteer for six years in Latin America, Yemen, and Kiribati in the Pacific Ocean. She was a remarkable woman whose accomplishments were a testament to her strength and dedication.
Jane had an unyielding love for her family and her faith. A longtime parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Marys, Pennsylvania, she derived strength and peace from her relationship with God. An avid genealogist, Jane proudly traced her ancestry to the Revolutionary War and became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Jane was especially proud of learning of an ancestor on her father's side, the Bailey family, who actually helped foil Benedict Arnold's plan to turn over the West Point Garrison to the British.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her son, Daniel Weidenboerner and his wife Carla and their children, Ashton Bogan and his daughter Addysin, Blair B. Milton and her husband Isaac and their children Ahrie and Aekhi, and Blake Bogan, as well as a niece, Skye Renee Matthews that Dan and Carla helped to raise; her son, Karl Weidenboerner and his wife Alaine and their children Karla W. Jones and her husband Benjamin, and Roy and Owen Weidenboerner; her son, Bernard Weidenboerner and his wife Amber and their daughter Ariel Weidenboerner; her son, Erik Weidenboerner and his wife Jackie Davie and their children Elijah and Ezekiel Weidenboerner; as well as her sister, Joanie Fritz; and her sister-in-law, Mary W. Buerk and her husband Dale.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Bailey and Monica Reuscher Bailey; and her husband, Bernard Frederick Weidenboerner.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM (EST) at St. Mary's Catholic Church, located at 315 Church Street, St. Marys, Pennsylvania, 15857. Following the Mass in the St. Mary's Catholic Church Social Hall, the family invites friends and loved ones to join them for a luncheon in celebrating Jane's life and legacy, reminding us all of the power of resilience, the importance of service, and the enduring love of family.
