James M. “Jim” Sorg, 78, of 108 Rosebach Road, St. Marys, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Penn Highlands Elk, after a brief illness.
He was born May 13, 1943, in St. Marys, son of the late Clifford A. and Louise Ehrensberger Sorg. Jim was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1961, and of St. Vincent College, Class of 1965. He was employed at Keystone Powdered Metal Company where he was a Process Engineer for over 32 years and retired as a Product Engineer from GKN Sinter Metals in Emporium in 2005.
On October 21, 1972, in the Holy Cross Church in Brandy Camp, Jim married Darlene M. Martini, who survives.
He is also survived by his son, Jim Jr. of St. Marys; his daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Rodman of Olean, NY; his grandsons, Andy Rodman of St. Marys and Josh Rodman of Olean, NY; his great-granddaughter, Ellie Mae Rodman of St. Marys; his brother, Gerry (Marlene) Sorg of St. Marys; and by his sister, Pat Sprague of St. Marys.
Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and spending time at his camp in Birch Valley. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and stocking fish. He and his buddies, Bob and Leo, hunted and fished together for over 50 years. Jim was a life member of the NRA, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and was a 60+ year member of the St. Marys Sportsmen’s Club.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, April 25, 2022, at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
