James T. “Lefty” Gorman

April 24, 2017 — July 24, 1926

James T. “Lefty” Gorman, 90, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of 185 Center Street, Elk Towers, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017, at Pinecrest Manor.

He was born July 24, 1926, in Johnsonburg, son of the late James and Rena Gaffey Bortnyak Gorman. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School.  He was a retired employed of Stackpole Carbon Company, retiring in 1988.

Lefty was married to Rita Means Gardner, who preceded him in death on February 9, 1989. They were married in 1965 in Emporium.

He is survived by a daughter, Kelly Iorfida of Harrisburg; a son, Sean Gorman of St. Marys; a step daughter, Jacquelyn Conklin and her husband Loren of St. Marys; five grandchildren, Malissa, Vanessa, Amanda, Jenna, and Jayden; and by eight great grandchildren, Trevor, Emalee, Mason, Chloe, Ryder, Camden, Cove, and Hyden.

Lefty was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, William, and Joseph Gorman. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Lefty was a veteran of the US Navy and was a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the PFL, the Moose, a life member of the CMF, and he enjoyed bowling.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
