James T. Foster, 85, of St. Marys, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Penn Highlands Elk.
He was born April 18, 1940, at the Foster home in St. Marys, son of the late George and Helen Beimel Foster. He was a lifelong resident of the area, was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1958, and worked for the City of St. Marys, where he retired in 2013.
Jimmy is survived by three sisters, Helen Zurfluh, Betty Kuntz, and Dolly Dornisch, all of St. Marys; two sisters-in-law, Cecelia “Sis” Foster and Carol Foster, both of St. Marys; and many nieces and nephews, whom he cherished.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Agnes Bouse, Grace Zuraski, Margaret Foster, and Evelyn Foster, in childhood; and five brothers: Arthur, George, Richard, Thomas, and Robert.
Jimmy was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a faithful parishioner of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed gardening, and farming. He was a big fan of Elvis Presley and cherished his time at each family gathering.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 10:00AM with the Rev. Thomas Curry, O.S.B., celebrating. Full military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
