James F. Clark, 97, of 208 Teaberry Road, St. Marys, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a brief illness.
He was born December 28, 1916 in St. Marys, son of the late Dr. James F. Clark DDS and Margaret L. McGrath. He was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1934. He lived in Toledo, OH for 31 years and returned to St. Marys in 1987. He was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Corporation, retiring in 1985 after 52 years of service.
On June 1, 1943 in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Beatrice Gorman, who preceded him in death on March 14, 2003.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas J. Clark of St. Marys and Michael F. Clark of Tucson, AZ; three granddaughters, Anna Siewert, Maureen Remerowski, and Megan Clark; two great granddaughters, Mabel and Violet Siewert; one sister, Margaret VanDerlin of State College; and by nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean P. Clark; and five brothers, John M. Clark, Edward M. Clark, George A. Clark, Albert H. Clark and Richard A. Clark.
Mr. Clark was a member of the Queen of the World Church. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the field artillery as a Captain during WWII. He served in all five campaigns in the European Theater, including D-Day. He was a member of the former St. Marys Kiwanis Club, the Knights of Columbus, and the Elks. In Toledo, he was a charter member of the St. Patrick’s of Heatherdowns Parish where he was involved in many church activities. After returning to St. Marys, he volunteered for the Christian Food Bank, Life Line, and was a lector at St. Mary’s Church and Queen of the World Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, and the Rev. Harold Brock, CFR, his great nephew, concelebrating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday, September 28, 2014, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
