Iris S. “Dutch” Caskey, 86, of 250 White Pine Road, DuBois, and formerly of Flower Valley, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Penn Highlands DuBois.
She was born April 13, 1929 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Vincent J. and Vera E. Sharp Sherry. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1947. She worked as a bookkeeper for V. J. Sherry, Louis Geis’ Sawmill, and several other businesses.
On May 20, 1950, in the St. Mary’s Church, she married David W. “Tater” Caskey, Jr., who preceded her in death on February 14, 2001.
She is survived by four daughters, Amy Villa and her husband Pete of Puyallup, WA, Julie Rohrback and her husband Tim of St. Marys, Libby Slye and her husband Jeff of St. Marys, E’Dee Schneider and her husband Randy of DuBois; two sons, David V. Caskey of St. Marys and Michael W. Caskey and his wife Irene of St. Marys; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Patricia Sherry and Faith Schloder, both of St. Marys.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson and one granddaughter.
Dutch was a member of the St. Mary’s Church, the Historical Society, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She documented local cemetery records and along with her sister-in-law, Sally Caskey, authored five cemetery books.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Friday, May 29, 2015, at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday morning from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM.
