Irene G. Covac, 93, of 116 Poplar Road and a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Elk Haven after a brief illness.
She was born March 3, 1921 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Joseph and Franciska Wiesneski Mackoviak. She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Holy Rosary School.
On August 10, 1940, in the Holy Rosary Church, she married Albert L. Covac, who preceded her in death on February 12, 2011.
She is survived by three daughters, Janice Haller and her husband William of Kersey, Judith Rippy and her husband Dennis of Murray, UT, and Joan Cox and her husband Bruce of South Lake Tahoe, CA.; two sons, Joseph Covac and his wife Judy of St. Marys and Jeff Covac and his wife Mary Jo of St. Marys; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Margaret Zenenz, Nora Kushniark, Helen Myslinski, Mary Pivinski and Pauline Pavlock; and seven brothers, Michael, Sylvester, John, Joseph, Stanley, Andrew and Walter Mackoviak. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Covac was a member of the Queen of the World Church and enjoyed being with her family and spending time at her home.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 12:00 PM with the Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
