Germaine A. Coder, 77, of 767 West Joseph Road, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, after a lengthy illness.
She was born September 21, 1939, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Francis E. and Josephine Cheatle Sporner. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1957. She was a retired employee of Elco Sintered Metals.
Germaine was married to the late Charles Coder, who preceded her in death in 1997.
She is survived by three daughters, Deborah Meyer and her partner George Armstrong of Kersey, Charlotte “Sherry” White and her husband Tim of New Bern, NC, and Barbara Powell and her husband Steven of Tryon, NC; two sons, John Coder and his wife Karen and Gerard “Jerry” Coder, both of St. Marys; 10 grandchildren, Nichole Meyer, Charles Meyer, Travis Meyer, Matthew Meyer, Devon Meyer, Sarah White, Brian White, Breeanna Powell, Jacob Powell, and Zackery Powell; and by 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Dorothy Raffeinner and her husband Raymond of Kersey; and by two brothers, Alfred Sporner and his wife Carol and Vincent Sporner and his wife Karen, both of St. Marys.
In addition to her parents, Germaine was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley M. Sporner in childhood; and by two grandchildren, Adam Meyer and Josie Coder.
Germaine was a member of the St. Mary’s Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and puzzles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
