George E. Gasper

November 4, 1926 — October 4, 2021

George E. Gasper, 94, of McNeilly Road, Pittsburgh, and formerly of St. Marys, passed away Monday, October 4, 2021, at Brookdale Senior Living Community, after a brief illness.

He was born November 4, 1926, in Windber, son of the late John T. and Ann Sotak Gasper. George was a graduate of Windber High School, Class of 1944. He continued his studies at Indiana State Teacher’s College and earned his Masters of Education from Penn State University. George was a member of the St. Marys community for almost 70 years.  During that time, he was a high school teacher, principal, and guidance counselor at the St. Marys Area School District.

On August 25, 1956, in St. Mark’s Catholic Church, in Emporium, he married Joanne Kinsler, who survives. They were blessed to share 65 years of marriage together.

George is survived by one daughter: Julie Chiesa and her husband, Dan, of Pittsburgh; two grandsons: Brad (Monika) and Eric (Laura); two great-granddaughters: Brooklyn and Madeline; and by many nieces and nephews.

George was a staff sergeant in the United States Army, serving our country in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 103, St. Marys. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and volunteering at the high school during his retirement years. He cherished his time with his loving wife and the family with which they were blessed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday morning, from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 or to Gallagher Hospice, 1370 Washington Pike, Suite 401B, Bridgeville, PA 15017.
