Gail F. “Huncher” Garbic

Gail F. “Huncher” Garbic, 67, of 843 South Michael Street, St. Marys, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at his residence.

He was born May 13, 1949, in St. Marys, son of the late Joseph and Lenora Wendel Garbic. He was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1967, and also a graduate of Williamsport College of Technology, graduating in 1969.  He was a retired employee of Quala-Die, retiring on October 31, 2016 after 30 years of service.

On August 9, 1996, in St. Marys, Huncher married Lorraine M. Defranco, who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Wes Garbic and Josh Garbic and his wife Nikki, both of St. Marys; a step-daughter, Tracy Geitner Simms and her husband Matt of Laurel, MD; a step-son, Jason Geitner and his wife Missie of St. Marys; and by five grandchildren, Brittany Geitner, Erica Geitner, Tyler Geitner, Austin Garbic, and Deacon Garbic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Garbic.

Huncher was an avid trap and skeet shooter and was a founding member of the Straub Hot Shots Trap and Skeet Team, which began in 1973. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to camp, and sitting around a campfire, but he especially enjoyed spending time with his wife and grandchildren.  Huncher also enjoyed playing guitar, and was a member of two bands.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, Pastor, officiating.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday, February 16, 2017, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
