Francis “Frank” Gilbert Lecker, 78, of 167 Robin Road, St. Marys, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Penn Highlands DuBois, after a lengthy illness.
He was born October 1, 1943, in St. Marys, son of the late Norbert and Caroline Hassenetter Lecker. Frank was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Schools. He worked for 27 years at Stackpole Fireproof before going on to attend Penn State DuBois and then Jeff Tech, earning his Machinist certificate. He then worked for 10 years at Metaldyne in Ridgway, from which he retired.
On February 4, 1967, in the Queen of the World Church, Frank married Linda A. Vollmer, who survives. Together they shared over 55 years of much love, laughter, and happiness.
In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his daughter, Tracy Ann Bober (Mark) of Erie; his sons: Frank Lecker (Lisa) of DuBois and Travis Lecker (Desire’) of Wilcox; six grandchildren: Courtney Shope (Chris), Abby Lecker, Isabelle Bober, Drew Bober, Tabby Lecker, and Maverick Lecker; and by his sister, Sr. Mary David Lecker, OSB, of Bakerstown, PA.
Besides his parents, Frank was preceded in death by four sisters: Marion Mertz, Bernice Kline, Jane Moylan, and in infancy, Martha Lecker; and by four brothers: Clarence, Richard, Earl, and Lavern Lecker.
Frank was a member of the Queen of the World Church. In 1961, during the Missile Crisis in Cuba, he served as a Sergeant of the 155 Howister of Battery B, Artillery Battalion, and went on to serve in the Army Reserves for a number of years. He was also one of the founding members of St. Marys Search and Rescue. Frank’s favorite thing to do was to ride his motorcycle, which he had been doing since he was 16 years old.
Frank loved being with his family. His grandchildren were the joy of his life. He was truly the best husband, father, brother, and grandfather a family could ask for. His legacy will live on in the life lessons, happiness, and love he showed his family.
There will be no visitation.
