Francis “Butch” B. Geitner, 92, of 243 Rightmeyer Street, St. Marys, passed away peacefully Friday, July 25, 2025 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.He was born December 6, 1932 in St. Marys, son of the late Fred and Ann Manges Geitner, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1952, and spent the majority of his working career at Stackpole Carbon.Francis was a veteran of the United States Army and a parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the VFW, and a member of the American Legion for sixty years. He was a committed member of the St. Marys community as a volunteer firefighter for the Crystal Fire Department and was a long-standing member of the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.
In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by his sisters: Helen Geitner, Rita Geitner, Adeline Dietz, Rose Herzing Dietz, and Marcella Swanson; and his brothers: Jerome and Fred Geitner, Jr. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.He is survived by his caring nieces and nephews.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 10:00AM with Rev. Thomas Curry, O.S.B., celebrating. Full military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, 169 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 9:00AM until 9:30AM.Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to a favorite charity of one’s choosing.
