Ernest C. “Ernie” Baughman

Ernest C. “Ernie” Baughman, 85, of 116 Gerber Road, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 at his residence.

He was born May 2, 1927 in Shippenville, PA, son of the late Alfred and Muriel Wingard Baughman.  He had also made his home with his aunt and uncle, Robert and Mertyl Kirkland.  He attended schools in Hallton and Mundorf.  He had worked for Brockway Glass, retired from the Stackpole Carbon Company, where had had worked for 38 years and drove school bus for more than 50 years.

On May 15, 1948 in St. Marys, he married Bertha L. Gerber, who survives.  He is also survived by a daughter, Shari Mazzaferro and her husband, John of St. Marys; four grandchildren, Thomas Ehrensberger, Timothy Wonderling, Tanya Brett and John Wingate; six great grandchildren, Tommy, Kristen and Alexis Ehrensberger; Austin and Alicia Wonderling; and Danica Charles.  Also surviving is a sister, Joanne (Robert) Yeager of Ridgway; two brothers, William (Donna) Baughman of Livingston, TX and Cecil (Lorraine) Baughman of New Jersey; two sisters-in-law, Donna Baughman and Gloria Baughman; one half-sister; two stepbrothers; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Ann Ehrensberger and her husband William “Bill” and their children, Robbie, Kristen and Kenny Wayne, who died in the Toccoa Falls, GA flood in 1977.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Craig; two brothers, Robert Baughman and Dennis Baughman; and by a half-sister.

Mr. Baughman was a member of the First United Methodist Church, was a coin collector (member of the Tri-County Coin Club), raised and sold blueberries, enjoyed gardening and selling at the farmers market.  He was a member of the Bootjack Grange and the Elk Counthy Fair Committee.  He enjoyed his morning coffee with friends at McDonalds and enjoyed his cats, especially Charlie.

Funeral services for Mr. Bachman will be held in the First United Methodist Church on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Chris Kindle, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Munderf Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
