Elizabeth M. “Betty” Struble, 91, a resident of the Sarah Reed Senior Living Center in Erie, and formerly of 300 Evers Avenue, St. Marys, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
She was born February 12, 1925, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Leo and Anna Mertz Schneider. She was a lifelong resident of the area and had resided the past five years in Erie. Betty was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1943, and was a retired employee of the Stackpole Corporation, working at the North Fork Lodge.
On June 15, 1946, in the St. Mary’s Church, she married Robert W. Struble, who preceded her in death on May 26, 2012.
Betty is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Mikus and her husband William of Connecticut, Mary Dinsmore and her husband Kenneth of Erie, and Jean Kibler and her husband Charlie of Erie; a son, Charles R. Struble and his wife Jane of Kersey; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Salvini, Ian Mikus, Janel Castellano, Justin Struble, Matthew Dinsmore, Kelly Drahushak, Kristin McCarthy, Jessica Kridler, and Jeremy Kibler; and 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Orma McKeon of St. Marys; three brothers, Richard Schneider of St. Marys, Theodore Schneider of Kersey, and Timothy Schneider and his wife Wanda of St. Marys; and by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Sadley Carpenter, Marion Roberts, and Dolores Arnold; and by three brothers, William, Thomas, and John “Jack” Schneider.
Betty was a member of the St. Mary’s Church and the Bavarian Hills Golf Association Auxiliary. She enjoyed time spent with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed golfing, playing cards and bingo, traveling, going to the casino, and looming hats for underprivileged children in Erie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Monday, August 1, 2016, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM and Monday morning from 9:00 until 9:30 AM.
