Elizabeth R. “Betty” Burgess, 93, of 14 Conewango Ave., Warren, PA and formerly of 344 South Michael St., St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly Saturday (1-26-19) at the Suites at Rouse in Youngsville, PA. She was born June 19, 1925 in Grampian, PA and raised by her grandparents, George H. and Sadie Elizabeth Dush of Grampian, PA. She attended Ridgway Schools and had been employed by the Stackpole Carbon Co., Sylvania, and by Mex-America Foods.
On November 25, 1943, in the St. Mary’s Church, she married Leo J. Burgess and he preceded her in death on January 3, 2004.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol Lecker of St. Marys, Sheri Donahue (John) of Warren, PA, two sons, James F. Burgess (Linda) of Aiken, SC, Gerald J. Burgess (Donna) of St. Marys, nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Twila Dush Patrick and two grandsons, Thomas and Alvin Lecker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Saturday (2-2-19) at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Michael Gabler, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Saturday morning (2-2-19) from 9:30-10:30 AM.
