Eileen Julia Werner Williams, 87, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Virginia Beach, VA.
Eileen was born on August 13, 1931, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Norbert G. and Catherine A. Detsch Werner. She graduated from St. Marys Central Catholic High School in 1949- a proud ‘49er. She attended St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Erie, PA and graduated with her R.N. Degree in 1952. Upon graduation she was employed by the St. Marys Community Nurses. While raising her family she left the Community Nurses and worked part-time at the Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital eventually returning in 1971 to the Community Nurses until her retirement in 1993. Eileen was a member of the Nurses’ Study Club and a member of the Queen of the World Church.
On May 14, 1955, Eileen married James H. Williams, who preceded her in death on July 19, 2010. She was also preceded in death by brothers, George J. Werner, Paul F. Werner, and in infancy, Norbert Werner; and by a sister, Dorothy T. Sabellico. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Eileen is survived by her four sons, John P. and his wife Mary Ellen of Virginia Beach, VA; James M. and his wife Linda of Conway, AR; Stephen N. and his wife Karen of Bear, DE; and Richard G. and his wife Jane of Zelienople, PA; and by her daughter Ann W. Will and her husband Paul of Bear, DE. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Fr. Rene Castillo and Fr. Sonny Guadalupe for their prayers and visits; our Visiting Angel- Courtney; Interim Healthcare Hospice of Virginia Beach; and Mary Ellen for her special love and care of our mother.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. Jeffery Noble on Friday, November 23, 2018, at 12:00 PM, at the Queen of the World Church. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held Friday morning, from 11:00 AM until the time of Mass.
