Dr. Dodie (Dolores) Fleming Meier passed away on January 28, 2014 after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She is survived by her daughter Julia (Christopher) Painter and their children, Olivia and Hannah; as well as her son Joseph Meier who lovingly cared for her until her passing. She is also survived by two brothers, Thomas (Debra) Fleming and Sean Fleming, and one sister, Mary Lynn (Brian) Faughnan. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Thomas Meier, her parents, Thomas and Esther Fleming, and her brother Jeffrey Fleming. She will be deeply missed by many friends, sister and brother in laws, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She completed her undergraduate work in Education at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and her Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Counseling Psychology at New Mexico State University. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honorary society and the American Psychological Association. She was named to Who’s Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Dodie served as a clinical therapist and counselor as well as an Associate Professor.
Dodie was a devout Catholic and a woman of unshakable faith. She always looked for and believed the best about people. She was quick with a joke and loved to laugh. She was very enthusiastic about life and lived it to the fullest. She was a true friend to many and will be deeply, deeply missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road St. Marys, PA 15857 on Saturday, February 1 at 12:00 pm (noon). There will be no visitation.
