Dorothy A. Meyer, 92, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of Elk Towers, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Pinecrest Manor.
She was born August 27, 1922 in Akron, OH, daughter of the late Leo and Veronica Smithbauer Frey. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Kersey High School, class of 1941. She retired in 1987 from Powdered Metal Products after 22 years of service. After her retirement, she worked at Arby’s for two years and then managed the Elk Regional Health Center gift shop for 13 years, retiring at the age of 80.
On September 4, 1943 in the St. Mary’s Church, she married Leo G. Meyer, who preceded her in death on October 6, 1984.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Wendel and her husband Jerry of St. Marys, Geraldine Schloder and her husband P. Michael of St. Marys, and Linda DiPoalo and her husband Anthony of Weedville; ten sons, Larry Meyer and his wife Sheila of Old Town, Maine, Ronnie Meyer and his wife Norma of St. Marys, Roger Meyer and his wife Mary of St. Marys, Richard Meyer and his companion Diane Wendel of St. Marys, Kenny Meyer and his wife Sue of Benezette, Jeffrey Meyer and his wife Brenda of St. Marys, Melvin Meyer of St. Marys, Michael Meyer of St. Marys, Andy Meyer and his wife Chris of St. Marys, and Tommy Meyer of St. Marys; 31 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Wickett of Holland, NY and Florence Secco and her husband Romey of Kersey; and one brother, Richard Frey and his wife Patricia of Kersey.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sharon Goetz; one sister, Gladys Gillen; and two brothers, James Frey and Robert Frey, who passed away September 2, 2014; and daughter-in-law, Amy Meyer.
Mrs. Meyer was a member of the Queen of the World Church, the Rosary Altar Society, and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a former CCD teacher and was a member of the Elk Regional Health Center Auxiliary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
