Donald E. Lundy, 85, of 5552 Bendigo Road, Wilcox, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016, at his residence, after a brief illness.
He was born October 1, 1930, in Weedville, son of the late Leo T. and Adda Tyler Lundy. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Weedville High School, Class of 1948. He was a retired employee of the Queen of the World Church, where he had worked for 35 years.
On November 20, 1954, in the St. Mary’s Church, he married M. Celine Anzinger, who preceded him in death on September 26, 1980.
He is survived by four daughters, Theresea Lundy of Kersey, Celine Swackhammer and her husband Edward of Caledonia, Jane Daniels and her husband Shawn of St. Marys, and Judith Woelfel and her husband Robert of Kersey; a son, Jude Lundy of Glen Hazel; 15 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Minnie Shipman of Vermillion, OH and Rena Sherwood of Kersey; and a brother, Chester Lundy and his wife Linda of Force, PA.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Lundy.
Don was a member of the Queen of the World Church and was a veteran of the US Marine Corp., having served in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion, the Penfield Firemen, the Wilcox Sportsmen’s Club, the St. Marys Moose, and was a retired member of the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, March 28, 2016, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday, March 27, 2016, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
