Donald W. Bauer, 90, of 461 Main Street, Kersey, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016, at the Elk Haven Nursing Home, after an illness of the past several months.
He was born June 3, 1926, in St. Marys, son of the late Henry and Louise Knight Bauer. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Schools. He was the retired owner of the former Don Bauer’s Auto Body.
On October 11, 1944, in the St. Mary’s Church, he married Helen M. Gillen, who preceded him in death on January 12, 2015.
Don is survived by three daughters, Joyce Lander and her husband Tom of St. Marys, Donna Parker and her husband George of Dover, DE, and Lois Fye and her husband Tom of St. Marys; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a great, great granddaughter; a sister, Vivian Sobierajski of Detroit, MI; and by two brothers, Melvin Bauer and his wife Delores and Glenn Bauer and his wife Peggy, both of St. Marys.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John H. Bauer; a granddaughter, Tammy Feidler; two great grandchildren; a sister, Alice Meyer; and by a brother, Lamar Bauer.
Don was a member of the Queen of the World Church and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Friday, October 21, 2016, at 12:30 PM, with the Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
