Dennis F. Vollmer

Dennis F. Vollmer, 86, of 306 West Creek Road, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 31, 2026.

He was born July 23, 1939, in St. Marys, son of the late Earl and Frances Simbeck Vollmer.  He was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of Central Catholic High School, and former employee at Stackpole Carbon Company, where he retired.

On July 2, 1966, in St. Boniface Church, Dennis married the late Regina “Jean” Gahr, who preceded him in death on January 18, 2019.

Dennis is survived by two sons: Jeff Vollmer and Craig Vollmer (Anissa), both of St. Marys; two grandchildren: Blake and Christian Vollmer; and two sisters: Kathleen Geelan and Joann Weidow (John).

He was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather.  Dennis was dedicated to service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and continued his service as a part-time police officer for St. Marys where he was known for keeping his community safe.  He was a member of the American Legion for sixty years and served with the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail, considering it a true honor to pay final respects to those who served their country.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 10:00AM.  Full military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to a favorite charity of one’s choosing.
