Dennis C. Rettger, 64, of 220 Liberty Road, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly while traveling on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
He was born September 3, 1961, in St. Marys, son Donna Salvatore Rettger and the late LaVerne Rettger. Denny was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1979 and a proud veteran of the United State Marine Corps., serving his country from 1979 until 1987. Denny was a very gifted man that brought expertise and found joy in the work that he did for Abbott Furnace.
Denny was known by all who knew him as a positive, fun-loving spirit-someone whose laughter was contagious and whose generosity knew no bounds. He had a genuine love for life and would do anything for anyone in need, always ready with a smile, a helping hand, or a kind word that lifted others up and brightened their day.
On May 25, 1980, in St. Marys, Denny married Debra Geiser, who survives. He was blessed to be married to his best friend and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Their marriage was a true example of friendship, devotion, and commitment. Together they raised two children, who were his greatest pride and joy. He treasured being a father and found his deepest happiness in watching his children grow, succeed, and find their own paths in life.
In addition to his wife and mother, Denny is survived by his daughter, Megan Kennedy (Richard) of Raleigh, NC and his son, Jason Rettger of St. Marys; his grandson, Dante, who affectionately called him, Papa D; his sister, Barbara Rettger of Kersey; two brothers, Cliff Rettger of St. Marys and Andy Rettger (Donna) of Oregon; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
An avid baker, Denny delighted family and friends with his baked goods-particularly his banana bread and pumpkin cookies. He was a passionate outdoorsman, cherishing his time hunting and embracing the peace of nature. Denny never missed the chance to support the St. Marys Dutch Football Team and enjoying the sense of community on game night.
A funeral service will be held for Denny in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, 169 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 and will be announced for a date in the near future. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to Elk County Humane Society, 1029 E. Eschbach Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 or to the American Cancer Society, 108R, North 2nd Street, Clearfield, PA 16830.
