David E. Otteni

September 9, 1944 — May 9, 2022

David E. Otteni, 77, most recently of St. Marys, formerly of North Collins, NY, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022, at Freedom Village in Coatesville, PA.

He was born September 9, 1944, in Erie, son of the late Theodore and Leda Kilbane Otteni.  Dave grew up in Erie, graduated from Strong Vincent High School, Class of 1963, and continued his education at Edinboro University, where he graduated in 1967.  Dave had an impact on numerous lives while he taught Biology and Science at North Collins High School as well as for the Buffalo School District.

On August 24, 1968 in the Queen of the World Church, Dave married Constance Louise Meyer, who survives.

Along with his wife Connie, he is survived by his son, Theodore D. Otteni and his wife Alisa of Chester Springs; three grandchildren: Garrett, Jacob, and Danylle; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Wurm Otteni of St. Marys; a sister, Carol Williams and her husband Jeff of Waterford, PA; by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his son, Terrence “Terry” Otteni on September 3, 2005.

Dave was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Free and Accepted Masons, where he was Past Master of Fortune Lodge #788 and served as District Deputy Grand Master of the Second Erie District.

He simply loved the outdoors.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed boating, walking, gardening, and landscaping.  He took his family on camping trips when they were kids and also enjoyed taking his grandkids (and many others) on walks through the woods to learn about nature.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday, May 13, 2022, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM.
