David P. Grim

April 23, 1940 — September 1, 2022

David P. Grim, 82, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of 601 Church Street, St. Marys, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Pinecrest Manor, following a lengthy illness.

He was born April 23, 1940, in Kirksville, MO, son of the late Dr. George E. and Jessie Michael Grim.   David valued education.  After graduating high school in Phoenix Arizona, he attended Arizona State University where he earned a B.S. in Industrial Management.  He served in the United States Army in Korea, then went on to Washington State University to obtain an MBA in Marketing.  David held several positions as a marketing executive before joining Airco Carbon Products, in St. Marys, PA as the Vice-President of Marketing in 1985, retiring from there in 1998.

On September 12, 1987, at Shiloh Presbyterian Church, David married Shawna Currier, who survives.

Along with his loving wife, he is survived by one daughter, Robyn Visniski (Robert) of Lancaster, PA; one son, Jonathan Grim (Megan) of McKinney, TX; a step-daughter, Ashley Currier (Dean Gerber) of Cincinnati, OH; a step-son, Zachary Currier (Charlotte) of Mechanicsburg, PA; eight grandchildren: Jacob, Anne, Rachel, and Katelyn Visniski, Sara and Benjamin Grim, Isabella and Levi Cho-Currier; and by his brother, John Grim (Helen) of Doniphan, MO.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Edward Grim and Dr. George Grim, and his first wife Margaret Cahall Grim.

David’s first love and loyalty was to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in St. Marys, where he enjoyed teaching Sunday School, helping with VBS, and serving on church committees.  He was a certified Lay Minister and shared the Gospel at Pinecrest Manor on a regular basis.  His kind and gentle nature and generosity touched many lives.

David enjoyed fly fishing, hiking, reading (especially his Bible), and was an avid fan of several sports.  He especially enjoyed rooting for the Steelers.  Spending time with children and grandchildren was also a beloved activity.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated at the First United Methodist Church, in St. Marys, on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Sang Hak Lee and Rev. Chris Kindle, officiating.  Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
