David A. Farabaugh, 75, of St. Marys and Titusville, FL, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017, at his residence at 1825 Lakeside Drive, Titusville, FL, following a brief illness.
He was born in Clearfield on September 5, 1942, son of the late James and Gladys Rorabaugh Farabaugh. He graduated from St. Marys Area High School, served three years in the Army and returned to St. Marys where he worked at Stackpole before opening his own business repairing sewing machines and then Dauer’s Office Equipment. He was also the last elected tax collector for Benzinger Township and retired in 2012 as tax collector for the school districts of St. Marys and Johnsonburg.
On July 6, 1979, Dave married Joyce Feile Farabaugh, who survives. He is also survived by his sisters, Lucille Ovell and Bonnie Sidelinger of St. Marys, Doris Anderson of Goshen, IN, Martha (Rene) Adler of Atkinson, NH; a brother, Thomas (Suzi) of Tucson, AZ; a sister-in-law, Peg Farabaugh of St. Marys; and by two grandchildren, Amy and Sam. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who loved their “Uncle Dave”. Also his neighbors in Florida, Pete and Donna, who were like another brother and sister to him.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Jake; and his daughter, Jennifer Thompson.
Dave was a very generous, helpful and fun-loving person. He enjoyed playing softball and running his garden railroad trains, both in Pennsylvania and Florida, having breakfast at DD’s, dinner with the Wednesday night group and the Friday night get-togethers with the guys.
He was a member of the St. Mary’s Church, the Historical Society of St. Marys and Benzinger Township, and the American Legion of Dagus Mines.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
