David A. Busch

David A. Busch, 85, formerly of 533 Rock Street, St. Marys, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Elm Terrace Gardens in Lansdale, PA.

He was born October 15, 1936, in St. Marys, son of the late Elmer and Catherine Thorwart Busch.  Dave was a lifelong resident of St. Marys and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1954.  He graduated from Dubois Business College in the field of Accounting in 1955, and he continued his schooling at St. Bonaventure University where he graduated in 1961.  Dave served his country with the United States Army from 1961 to 1967 and then continued his dedicated service as an Army Reservist.  He spent most of his professional career employed by Airco and Sylvania.  In 1998, he obtained a degree in Wildlife Technology at Penn State University.  He then built his own accounting practice with his wife.

On October 3, 1964, in the St. Mary’s Church, Dave married the love of his life, Mary E. Engel, who survives.

Along with his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Sharon Min (Henry) of Collegeville, PA, Karen Davis (Elmer) of Phoenixville, PA, and Lisa Heflin (Jason) of Limerick, PA; his son, Timothy Busch of Pottstown, PA; and by his six grandchildren that he adored: Eleanor, Natalie, Norah, Logan, Jeremy, and Taryn.

Dave was a member of the St. Marys Church.  He belonged to the American Legion and St. Marys Sportsmen.  He enjoyed golfing and to compete with his neighbors over the best vegetable gardens, was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan, loved to read, especially about history and World War II, and enjoyed debating over politics.  What Dave loved the most was the time spent with his family- his wife, children, and grandchildren.

There will be no visitation.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, Pastor, officiating.  Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

The family kindly requests that safety measures are taken to protect against Covid, such as masking and social distancing.
