Constance L. “Connie” Walker, 88, of 397 Elm Street, Scattertown, went home to her Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Elk Haven Nursing Home, after a brief illness.
She was born June 17, 1937, in Bradford, daughter of the late John Wright and Lulu Kelly Thomas. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Bennetts Valley High School, Class of 1955.
On March 30, 1957, in Penfield, Connie married George D. Walker, who preceded her in death on June 17, 2007, after sharing 50 years of marriage.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Gouldthread (Randy) of Weedville; her son, David Walker of Kersey; her grandsons: Shawn Gouldthread (Amanda) and Shane Gouldthread (Cassie); five grandchildren: Victoria, Samson, Mackenzie, Tanner, and Camden; and by three great-great-grandchildren: Luka, Realtin, and Whrenly. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Donna Schmoyer of Scattertown; two nieces: Cindy Eckenroth (Scott) and Mindy Krulia (Rick); and by many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, Connie was preceded in death by her brother, Nelson “Pete” Schmoyer; and by her daughter-in-law, Patricia J. Walker on January 22, 2026.
Connie was a devoted member of the Weedville Wesleyan Church and found great joy in serving her faith community. She helped prepare and serve bereavement dinners, offering comfort and care to families during difficult times. She was a member of the church choir, participated in the church missionaries, and faithfully attended the women’s Bible study. Her faith was an important part of her life and was reflected in her kindness, generosity, and dedication to others.
Connie found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She especially enjoyed sitting on her porch with a warm cup of coffee, watching the birds, squirrels, and rabbits that visited her yard. She embraced a quiet, simple life and was deeply content, finding joy in everyday moments.
A funeral service for Connie will be held in the Weedville Wesleyan Church, 18945 Bennetts Valley Highway, Weedville, PA, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 10:00AM, with Rev. Bryon Kleppinger celebrating. Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning in the Weedville Wesleyan Church from 9:30AM until the time of the service.
