Charles F. “Chuck” Eckl, 84, of 144 Laurel Lane, Kersey, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
He was born October 19, 1941, in his home in Daguscahonda, son of the late Benedict and Helen Marie Fulmer Eckl. He was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of Ridgway High School, Class of 1959, and formerly employed at Pure Carbon Company and Sylvania as a mechanic.
On May 21, 1960, in Sacred Heart Church, Chuck married Carol VanDerlin, who survives. They were blessed to share sixty-five years of marriage.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughter, Laura Eckl Seder (Timothy) of Warren and his son, Steve Eckl (Robin) of Kane. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Ashley Eckl O’Dell (Josh), Kyle Seder, and Brandon Seder (Lexi); a step-grandson, Jonathan Sadlowski; two great-grandchildren, whom he adored, Adelyn and Everleigh; and two brothers, Earl Eckl (Joanie) and Richard Eckl (Patty), both of Daguscahonda.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Anderson, and two brothers, James Girty and William Girty.
Chuck was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed his time outdoors and going to camp. He loved nothing more than time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held by Chuck’s family. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic cemetery.
