Christine H. Brem, 89, a resident of the DuBois Nursing Home in DuBois and formerly of Elk Towers and Grandview Road, St. Marys, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the DuBois Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

She was born December 20, 1922 in Daguscahonda, daughter of the late John and Frances Knouse Meholic.  She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended area schools.  She was a former employee of the Stackpole Carbon Company.

On May 29, 1947 in the Sacred Heart Church, she married George J. “Jingles” Brem who preceded her in death on February 22, 1995.

She is survived by a daughter, Joan (Thomas) Hockman of DuBois; a son, William J. (Patricia) Brem of Tampa, FL; four granddaughters, Jennifer West, Rachael Chiesa, Kathryn Eisensmith and Erin McMahon; two great grandchildren, Alan Eisensmith and Owen Eisensmith; and a brother, Robert “Red” Meholic of St. Marys.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary O’Dell, and a brother, John Meholic.

Mrs. Brem was a member of the Queen of the World Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 12:00 PM with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 AM.
