Catherine A. Snyder, 83, of 233 George Street, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the Penn Highlands DuBois.
She was born February 12, 1939, in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Frank and Eleanor Przybylski Simchick. Catherine was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1957.
On September 30, 1961, in the Holy Rosary Church, Catherine married the late Clifford R. Snyder, who preceded her in death on September 28, 2014.
She is survived by three daughters: Mary Schatz (Paul) of St. Marys, Karen McKenna (John) of St. Marys, and Diane Bedont (Scott) of Windber; two sons: Paul Snyder and Adam Snyder, both of St. Marys; seven grandchildren: Mark Schatz (Laura Wingard), Julie Hedlund (Justin), Andrew Schatz, Nicole Snyder (Brian Evers), Megan McKenna, Kate Bedont, and Ryan Bedont (Melissa); three great-grandchildren: Jackie Schatz, Jenna Schatz, and soon to be Baby Evers; two sisters: Dorothy Mitchell (Tom) of St. Marys and Ruth Bowes (Mike) of Ridgway; a sister-in-law, Rosalyn Simchick of Reading; a brother-in-law, Tom Snyder of St. Marys; by many nieces and nephews; and by extended family members, Terry and Sandy Myer of Kane.
In addition to her husband and parents, Catherine was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Myer and her three brothers: Sylvester, Joseph, and Richard Simchick.
Catherine was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was an avid reader of murder mystery books, specifically Agatha Christie books. She enjoyed word search puzzles, playing cards, and board games with her family and friends. Nothing made her more happy than spending time with her grandchildren. She was proud of her grandchildren and cherished her family.
Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
A Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
