Carl M. Dietz, 82, of 116 Catalina Road, St. Marys, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Penn Highlands DuBois after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 29, 1940 in Ridgway, son of the late Carl A. and Grace Wright Dietz. He was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of Ridgway High School, Class of 1959, and retired from Alltel after 29 years of service.
On September 29, 1962, in St. Leo’s Church, he married Germaine Mucci, who survives. Together they shared 59 years of marriage.
Along with his wife, Carl is survived by three sons: Carl J. Dietz (Connie) of Menomonee Falls, WI, Donald A. Dietz (Vicki) of Brockway, and Daniel R. Dietz (Amy) of State College; six grandchildren: Christopher Dietz, Chelsea Day (Jesse), Corey Dietz, Alyssa Dietz, Cody Dietz, and Lindsey Dietz; four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Paula Calabrese (Tom) of Erie and Linda Wilson (John) of Shelvey Summit; and one brother, Gary Dietz (Joyce) of St. Marys; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Carl was preceded in death by a son in infancy, Thomas Edward Dietz.
He was a member of the Queen of the World Church. His first passion that started in 1967 was flying and spending countless hours at the St. Marys Airport. He loved flying a Cessna Skyhawk with his father and brother. His second passion was playing guitar and singing with his brother and their friends. He enjoyed many activities including hunting, fishing, boating, camping, snowmobiling, and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed repairing and building things including his first airplane and home. Carl was always willing to lend a helping hand. He especially appreciated spending time when the whole family was together.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 12:30PM on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeffery Noble celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on September 6, 2022 from 10:30 AM until the time of service.
