Arnold E. “Archie” Secco, 84, of 19343 Bennetts Valley Highway, Weedville, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Penn Highlands DuBois after a brief illness.
He was born November 18, 1930 in Kersey, son of the late Amilcare and Ida Canton Secco. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Kersey Schools. He was a veteran of the Air Force having served in the Korean War. After serving in the military, he graduated from the Williamsport School of Trade with a certificate in carpentry. He had worked as a Union carpenter, was self-employed in construction, and retired from the Jay Twp. Water Authority.
On July 23, 1955 in the St. Joseph’s Church in Force, he married Rose Marie Zambanini, who survives. This year would have marked their 60th wedding anniversary. He is also survived by two daughters, Maryanne Swisher and her husband R. Mark of DuBois and Roxanne Campbell and her husband George of Luthersburg, PA; a son, Richard “Rick” Secco of Weedville; six grandchildren, Matthew Swisher, Leanne Kontur, Douglas Swisher, Adam Swisher, Kayle Campbell, and Brooke Campbell; four great grandchildren, Nicolas Swisher, Julian Swisher, Sadie Swisher, and Elliott Kontur; and five brothers, Romolo “Romie” Secco and his wife Florence of Kersey, Jerald “Jerry” Secco and his wife Barbara of Weedville, John Secco and his wife Maryilyn on Chicago, IL, Leroy Secco of Kersey, and Joseph Secco of Kersey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosmond Sidelinger and Barbara Kronenwetter; and three brothers, Lawrence Secco, Armand Secco, and Raymond Secco who died in childhood.
Archie was a member of the St. Joseph’s Church and the DuBois American Legion. He enjoyed remodeling, gardening, and running his back hoe. As a hobby, he built his own home from the floor up. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the St. Joseph’s Church in Force on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. William Sutherland, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the DuBois Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Archie’s family wishes to invite his family and friends to a luncheon in his honor at the St. Joseph’s Parish Hall immediately following the Funeral Mass,
