Amer V. Haight

Amer V. Haight, 92, of 123 Swede Street, Dagus Mines, PA, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Pinecrest Manor after a brief illness.

He was born December 2, 1919 in Emlenton, PA, son of the late Joseph Curtis and Ozzie Silvis Haight.  He had been a resident of the area since 1951.  He attended Elder Twp. School and was a retired employee of Airco Speer, retiring in 1972 after 27 years of service.

On January 25, 1946 in Miola, PA, he married Violet R. Allshouse, who survives.  Also surviving are three daughters, Vicky Ann (Vernon) Reed of St. Marys, Deborah J. (Lance) Eastman of Allegany, NY, Linda (John) Fox of St. Marys; four sons, James R. (Annette) Haight of Kersey, Joseph H. (Brenda) Haight of Waterford, PA, Dennis L. (Reba) Haight of Hillard, OH, Ray C. (Wendy) Haight of Mercer, PA; 20 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean (William) Henry of Buffalo, NY and Olive (Dale) Welsh of Brookville, PA.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Valerie Rose Reed and Marvin Haight; four sisters, Edith Knapp, Ethel Mineweiser, Frances Leah Haight and Wavie Snyder; and four brothers, LeRoy, Robert, Donald and Dean Haight.

Mr. Haight was a member of the Maria Lutheran Church, the Quarter Century Club of Airco, a Veteran of WWII having served in the Army/Air Force, was a lifetime member of the Dagus Mines American Legion and a member of the Kersey Firemen.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held in the Maria Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Eric Hart, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Maria Lutheran Cemetery.  Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Twp. Servicemen’s Burial Detail.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
