Alice M. Johnson, 83, of 300 Russ Lane, St. Marys, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012 at her residence after a lengthy illness.
She was born August 31, 1929 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Lawrence and Rose Fritz Lechner. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School.
On February 18, 1950 in the St. Mary’s Church, she married Clifford W. “Skip” Johnson, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Larry L. Johnson and his wife Marion of Kersey, Thomas A. Johnson of St. Marys, Wayne P. Johnson and his wife Cindy of Kersey; a sister, Marie Pistner of St. Marys; six grandchildren, Eric Johnson of Batavia, NY, Ann Johnson of Pittsburgh, Brian Johnson of St. Marys, Amy Johnson of Wilkes Barre, Aaron Johnson of Kersey and Kelly Johnson of Kersey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Lechner; and by four brothers, Leonard, Francis, Leo and Lawrence Lechner, Jr.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the St. Mary’s Church. She was a housewife who took pride in keeping an impeccable home for her family.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially being with her grandchildren. She was an avid bingo player which fostered many new friendships in the community. Alice particularly enjoyed spending time at their camp in Glen Hazel and sharing stories around the campfire.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Meinrad Lawson, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
