Alfred L. “Corky” Marconi, 90, of 407 Erie Avenue, St. Marys, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Sunday, November 2, 2025.
He was born September 9, 1935 in St. Marys, son of the late Zolferino and Mary Rose Nart Marconi. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1954. Corky was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country from 1955 until 1957. Following his service, Corky was employed at Pure Carbon.
On August 6, 1960, in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Marilys Schlimm, who survives. They were blessed to share sixty-five wonderful years together.
In addition to his wife, Corky is survived by two daughters: Barbara Darby and Paula Reed (Brian) of St. Marys; two sons: Thomas and Timothy Marconi, both of St. Marys; six grandchildren: Thomas “TD” Marconi (Megan), Michael Darby, Ashley Ljesevic (Vlad), Olivia Spinneweber (Matt), Matthew Marconi, and Brandon Reed; one brother, Andrew “Ike” Marconi of Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Marguerite Schaut, Louise Mattiuz, and Edith Cortina; and five brothers: Victor, Aurelius, Charles Marconi and Armando and James, who passed in infancy.
Corky was a fan of all sports and liked old cars. He put his family above everything else and could be found in any gym supporting his grandchildren. He was their biggest fan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 10:00AM with Rev. Ignatius Camello, O.S.B., celebrating. Full military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
