Adeline M. Knight, 94, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 139 Locust Road, St. Marys, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born November 5, 1918 in Kersey, daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Eckert Emmert. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1937. She was a former employee of the Market Basket for 27 years.
On September 1, 1939 in the St. Boniface Church in Kersey, she married Othmar P. Knight, who preceded her in death on September 17, 1978.
She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Charleson and her husband John E. of Ridgway, Diane M. Bauer and her husband John E. of St. Marys and Marsha Gabor and her husband Steven of St. Marys; a son, William P. Knight of St. Marys; nine grandchildren, Barbara Charleson, Bernard Charleson, Christian J. Bauer, Jennifer M. Bauer, Melissa Risch, David Knight, Brian Knight, Lee Gabor and Sarah Gabor; and 16 great grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lillian Koch, Ruth Laughlin and Mary Hannibal; and four brothers, J. Joseph Emmert, Thomas Emmert, Carl Emmert and Leo Emmert. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Knight was a member of the Queen of the World Church and a former member of the church choir. She enjoyed walking, baking, especially her pies, and she enjoyed being with her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Michael Ferrick, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.
