Mary Ann Lanzel | 91

April 5, 1932 - April 6, 2023

Mary Ann Lanzel, 91, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of 154 Wilson Road, St. Marys, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023, after a lengthy illness with her family by her side.

She was born April 5, 1932, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Clarence and Margaret Gerber Sporner.  Mary Ann was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1951. 

On June 23, 1956, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she married Harold C. “Bud” Lanzel, who survives.  They were blessed to share 66 years of marriage together.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Stephen J. Lanzel and his wife Carol of St. Marys and two daughters, Susan M. Lanzel of Erie, PA, and Cynthia R. Pasi and her husband Alan, of St. Marys.

Also surviving are five grandchildren: Eric Lanzel, Amy Schutz, Victoria and Matthew Sandstrom, and Tanner Pasi; five great grandchildren: Brynlee, Ashlynn, and Nora Schutz, Johnny and Max Lanzel.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her sister Ruth Frey in 2020.

Mary Ann was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Thomas More Sikora, OSB, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on the April 12, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 9:30 AM.

Memorials if desired may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 315 Church Street, St. Marys, PA  15857, or to Pinecrest Manor, 763 Johnsonburg, Road, St. Marys, PA 15857.

  1. Steve and Carol – I’m so sorry for the loss of your mother/mother-in-law. May she rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.

  2. When we lived near Vail, Colorado in the early 80’s, Bud, Mary Ann and Andy and Margaret Kaul would travel to Vail to ski. Each time they came, they got in touch with us, took ski lessons from Gerry, and treated us to dinner. We have fond memories of their visits. Mary Ann was a pleasure to be with – very kind, interesting, and all class.
