She is survived by five daughters: Katherine Cheatle (James) of St. Marys, Ellen Gerber (Bruce) of St. Marys, Amy Schreiber (Keith) of St. Marys, Laura Kuntz (Karl) of St. Marys, and Ann Lockwood (Ben) of Haughton, LA; four sons: Paul Giordano (Peg) of Farmville, VA, Stephen Giordano of St. Marys, Michael Giordano of Rock Hill, SC, and Gregory Giordano of Dublin, PA; twelve grandchildren: Tim Giordano, Doug Giordano, Zachary Cheatle, Noah Cheatle, Erin Gilroy, Rhonda Surrena, Joseph Gerber, Brianne Muccio, Brett Kuntz, Michael Schutza, Brian Schutza, and Jonathan Schutza; and by fifteen great-grandchildren.

Betty was a member of the Sacred Heart Church.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time playing Mah Jongg with her friends and family.  She was a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers and enjoyed watching Jeopardy.  She often would know the answers before anyone was finished reading the question.  She was proud to be a native of St. Marys and would often be seen on her porch enjoying the weather, reading, or listening to a baseball game.  Above all else, her faith and family were most important to her.  She loved travelling the country to visit her children and grandchildren, she was so proud of her family.

Tribute Wall

  1. I remember the first time that I met her , I was 6 or 7 and my dad took me up to the house and the whole family went. She was just such a whole hearted and nice lady and I loved her since the day I met her. I remember everyone as a family playing cards at the table and she prepared a dessert pizza that I had never had before. This lady’s kindness and ability to cook brought a warmth to my heart and I wouldn’t know this world without her. I love you Mimi Betty
