Thomas A. “Frenchy” Reed, 67, of Christ the King Manor and formerly of 402 Main Street, Kersey, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.
He was born November 27, 1954, son of Andrew and the late Rose Pusl Reed. Tom was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1973. Tom worked at Buhlers Lumber Factory shortly after graduating high school. On August 13, 1980, when Tom was 25 years old, he was struck by an automobile and suffered a TBI. He worked hard at physical therapy to live a normal life, and found peace in music, especially the Blues. Tom loved to spend countless hours listening to his records and he enjoyed cherry-tipped cigars. He had the most precious laugh you’ve ever heard and he loved his family and friends. His father, Andy, has fond memories of fishing with his son. Since Tom was five years of age, he could always beat his dad at fishing by catching the most fish.
Along with his caring father, he is survived by his sister, Michelle “Shelley” Shirey and her husband, Ed, of Ridgway; five nieces and nephews: Joshua (Amanda) Shirey of Washington, PA, Jeremy (Melissa) Shirey of Pearl City, HI, Brandi Aaron of Knoxville, TN, Kirstie Shirey of Washington, PA, and Kathryn Shirey of Gettysburg, PA; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; and an aunt, Norma Jean Snedden of Brandy Camp.
A Funeral Service for Tom will be celebrated in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday, November 21, 2022, at 10:30 AM, with the Rev. Ann Foor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to Christ the King Manor, 1100 W. Long Ave, DuBois, PA 15801.
Andy, Shelley, and family, my heart goes out to you all. I didn’t know Tom well, but when I would visit, he was usually in a good mood. 🙂 May you all find comfort, knowing he is at peace now. Calm and strength to you all in your time of loss. Many blessings.
