Theodore M. Erich, Sr. | 71

January 18, 1951 - January 18, 2022

Theodore M. Erich, Sr., 71, of 43 Dutch Hollow Road Ext., Wilcox, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at his residence.

He was born January 18, 1951, in St. Marys, son of the late William T. and Eyeleen Meyer Erich.  Ted was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1968.  After graduation, he served in the Army and later in the National Guard.  Ted was a retired employee of SGL Carbon.

On May 5, 2005, in St. Marys, Ted married Sharon M. Blessel, who survives.  He is also survived by his daughter, Tina L. Erich (David Corbett) of St. Marys; his son, Theodore M. Erich, Jr. (Michelle Carpin) of Wilcox; eight grandchildren: Chelsea, Eric, Cheyenne, Samantha, Hope, Isaac, Gina, and Alex; two great-grandchildren; his step-children: Angela Copello, Kevin Copello, and Tammy McTaggart, all of St. Marys; his sister, Charlene Andres of St. Marys, and by his brother, Daniel Erich of St. Marys.

In addition to his parents, Ted was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Dennis Andres.

Ted was a true family man, always putting his family first, especially his grandchildren.  He lived by the motto, “rules do not apply” and will be affectionately remembered as the “Mayor of Glen Hazel”.  Ted enjoyed shooting trap with the Straub Hot Shots, as well as camping and hunting.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 11:00 AM.  Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. 

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday morning, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
