Sandra "Sandy" Young | 63

August 14, 1961 - March 9, 2025

Sandra “Sandy” Young, 63, of 169 Washington Street, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly in Johnstown, PA.

She was born August 14, 1961, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Raymond “Junie” and Arlene Carr Prechtel, Jr.  She was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1979.

On August 9, 2012, in Decker’s Chapel, she married Tex (John) L. Young, who survives.  They were blessed to share thirty-three years together before their twelve years of marriage with each other.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by two grandchildren: Cami and Wesley Young of St. Marys; sisters: Diane Jamieson of Tidioute, PA and Joan Thompson (Kevin) of Custer City, PA; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Sandy was preceded in death last year by Travis Young, the son she shared with Tex and Joan.

Sandy was a kind person and loved her family.  She enjoyed shopping, camping and floating down the Clarion River during summers.  She was devoted to Tex and went to all lengths to support her loving grandchildren, Cami and Wesley.  She will be missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11:00AM, with Rev. Ignatius Camello, O.S.B., celebrating.
