Robert D. Thorwart | 70

December 1, 1951 - April 23, 2022

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Robert D. “Bob” Thorwart, 70, of 134 Clover Lane, St. Marys. Bob passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Penn Highlands DuBois following a brief illness.

He was born December 1, 1951, in St. Marys, son of the late Adam and Marie Young Thorwart.  Bob was a lifelong resident of St. Marys and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1969.  He was the manager of Modern Dairy, serving the company for 26 years. 

On September 17, 1983, in the Sacred Heart Church, Bob married Bernadette “Bernie” Skok.  They were blessed with two children and 38 years of marriage together.

He is survived by his daughter, Katie Prizzi (Alex) of Gibsonia; his son, Trevor Thorwart (Liz) of St. Marys; his granddaughter, Madelyn; two sisters: Mary Jane Pontious of St. Marys and Linda Osborne (Jim) of Sharon; two brothers: Daniel Thorwart (Lois) of St. Marys and Steve Thorwart (Linda) of St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Jane Thorwart of St. Marys; a brother-in-law, Jim Weichman of St. Marys; and by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Weichman; and by three brothers: John, Lee, and in childhood, Richard Thorwart.

Bob was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. He enjoyed reading and puzzles.  He was a hunter and fisherman, and really enjoyed his daily walks.  Bob took great joy in playing with his grand-dogs Geno and Blue. Above all else, his family was the most important to him.  He was extremely proud of and cherished every moment with them, especially his granddaughter, Maddie.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday, April 25, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, with the Rev. Thomas Curry, OSB, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Elk County Catholic School System, 600 Maurus Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 or to the Elk County Humane Society, 1029 E. Eschbach Road, St. Marys, PA 15857.

    My Aunt Jean Dodrill shared with me that you and your family lost your beloved husband Bob. I am very sorry, know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Find comfort in that Bob will always be with you and your family, you will feel his presence and you will never be alone. God and Jesus wrap their loving arms around you and your family, bless you, and walk with you and your family every step of every day.
